Instagram Threads introduces a new feature that adds a twist to hashtags

Instagram Threads is a new text-based social networking app developed by Meta, Facebook and Instagram’s parent company. It lets you share text updates and participate in public chats with other users. In addition, you may include photographs, videos, and links in your postings, which may exceed up to 500 characters long.

Since the launch of Threads which competes with X (previously Twitter), users have voiced a need for particular functionalities. The first feature, the option to search keywords for subjects of interest and browse related postings, was added barely a week ago.

The second feature, hashtags, is now available in Threads, allowing users to group their contributions under certain subjects to improve discoverability. Threads, on the other hand, has brought a unique twist to regular hashtags.

Delve into the details of the Threads hashtags features outlined below:

On the 8th of Dec, 2023 Instagram’s Head, Adam Mosseri announced on Threads, “Threads Update: The ability to tag a topic on your post is now rolling out globally so you can categorize your posts and make it easier for others to find and join in on the conversation.” “Try it out and let us know what you think.”

Ever since its remarkable debut in the summer, Threads has been consistently incorporating novel functionalities to assist users in effortlessly uncovering and exploring captivating posts. Following the successful implementation of an advanced search feature in September, the esteemed social media platform has now unveiled a new version of hashtags.

Instagram Threads introduces a refined version of hashtags:

Threads’ “Tags,” as they are referred to, largely function in the same manner, but with several notable distinctions.

They, like hashtags, are intended to organize conversations or information around a given theme. As a result, they are handy for locating information about live events and breaking news.

When you click on a hashtag in a tweet or an Instagram post, it will take you to other posts that include the same hashtag.

On Threads, however, you may only add one tag per post. In comparison, on Instagram, you may use up to 30 hashtags, and on TikTok, you can use as many as you want as long as you stay within the character limitation. The same applies for X, however, the site suggests a maximum of two hashtags per post.

Here’s how to use Tags:

In order to add a tag to your Threads post, simply touch the new hash icon in the composer.

You will then have the option of selecting an existing subject or creating your own.

After you share your article, people may touch the blue text to see more conversation on the same issue, beginning with the most relevant, current, and popular material.

The function appears to be a welcome break from traditional tagging; unlike traditional hashtags, which may be onerous to read at times, it makes reading tags simple. However, a single tag per post may reduce content discoverability. Multiple hashtags aid in the discovery of a video, photo, or post.
